Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySYLVESTER PAUCHOK Peacefully, on Tuesday, October 14, 2003, at Seven Oaks Hospital, Sylvester Pauchok of Winnipeg. Sylvester leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 41 years, Olga; daughter Myrosia Chimuk; son-in-law David; granddaughters, Alexa and Larysa; sister Pawlina in Ukraine; numerous nieces and nephews throughout North America and Europe. He was predeceased by his parents and six siblings. Sylvester was born January 16, 1923 in Horozana Velyka, Ukraine. At age 19 he left home to join the Ukrainian Combatants U.N.A. He became a prisoner of war in Italy. After the war, he lived and worked in several areas of Europe, his favourite being Scotland. In 1953 Sylvester settled in Winnipeg where he met and married Olga Jedynak. In 1964, their only daughter Myrosia was born. Tato worked for many years at Bird Construction and later at Bristol Aerospace until his retirement. Tato took part in many organizations which included the Brotherhood of Ukrainian Former Combatants U.N.A., Oseredok, Markian Shashkevych, Institute Prosvita and various choirs. He was for many years an active member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church. During his healthy years, Tato sang with the church choir and was in charge of the music. Tato loved music and was always singing around the house and he passed that love on to his daughter and granddaughters. Tato was a kind and gentle soul who made friends everywhere. Tatos greatest joy in life were his two granddaughters. As ill as he was, all problems went away when the girls came to the hospital and Larysa read him a Ukrainian story or Alexa told him a silly joke. Well all miss you Tato, but we know youll be in heaven watching over us. The family wishes to thank Dr. Dominic Tsang and his staff for the many years of caring and kindness. Thank you also to Fr. Michael Kouts for going to see Tato in the hospital. Prayers will be sung at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16 at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Ave. Divine Liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 17, also at the church with Rev. G. Oucharyk and Rev. M. Kouts officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the Brotherhood of Ukrainian Former Combatants U.N.A. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Help Us Help the Children, in care of Children of Chernobyl Canadian Fund, 2118-A Bloor St. W., Suite 200, Toronto, ON M6S 1M8.
